Welcome to the New Jersey Family Therapy Institute!

The mission of the New Jersey Family Therapy Institute is to provide comprehensive and affordable training, supervision, and mentoring in family therapy master level students that are seeking licensure in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy promoting clinical competency, ethical practice, and cultural sensitivity. Through evidence-based education and guided professional development, the Institute prepares clinicians to serve individuals, couples, and families with integrity, compassion, and excellence. Institute is focused also providing specialty training and supervision for those that are pursuing licensing or certification in the field of addiction.

The New Jersey Family Therapy Institute provides a learning environment in which understanding and respect for diversity and non-discrimination are fundamentally addressed, practiced, and valued in our training courses, overall program structure, and clinical training. The New Jersey Family Therapy Institute addresses issues related to power and privilege as they correlate to sociocultural factors and cultural sensitivity for all participants that engage in training provided by the institute and those engaged in supervision and mentoring services to obtain licensure.

Licensure includes New Jersey, with additional LMFT licensure in Florida, Colorado, and Virginia, allowing for multi-state clinical service delivery and supervision-informed practice. I continue to engage in continuing education to maintain and keep my skills in the field current.

Professional experience spans nonprofit, private practice settings, and providing clinical services through psychology today.

For over 20 years, clinical supervision has been provided to master’s-level interns and associate clinicians pursuing licensure and certification in Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling, and Alcohol and Drug Counseling in New Jersey. Supervision emphasizes ethical practice, clinical competency, cultural responsiveness in providing Marriage and Family therapy within a relational systemic model and additional models in the treatment of addiction. Although other models may be appropriate for addiction, a relational system is the primary context of delivery in therapeutic interventions.

I remain a clinical member of AAMFT national organization and the New Jersey state chapter for AAMFT. I am a clinical member of the National Association for Addiction Professionals.

I have had the honor of receiving professional supervision and mentoring over the past three years under the guidance of Dr. Reo Leslie, Jr. (LPC, LMFT, LAC, RPT-S, MAC, ACS). His influence has been instrumental in shaping my clinical leadership, supervisory approach, and the vision for the development of the New Jersey Family Therapy Institute. Additionally, I taught as part of the faculty for Dr. Leslie, Jr. The Colorado School for Family Therapy which was founded in 1995. Dr. Leslie, Jr School is a Private Occupational School regulated and approved by The State of Colorado Department of Higher Education Division of Private Occupational School (DPOS).
